ROSARY TO SAINT JOSEPH

First Mystery
We contemplate Saint Joseph, THE JUST MAN in the eyes of God. (Mt 1:18-21,24)

Jesus birth was like this: Mary, his mother, was betrothed to Joseph and when they still had not lived together, Mary conceived a son by the power of the Holy Spirit. Joseph, her husband, who was a just man and did not want to denounce her publicly, in secret, decided to abandon her. ”But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit;she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.’"All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:"Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel" (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took his wife.

Reflection: Saint Joseph adhered, with total trust, to God’s project over him. Do we allow ourselves to be guided in our options by the Words of God and by the Word of the Church?

Our Father, Hail Mary’s (10), and Glory Be.

Second Mystery
We contemplate Saint Joseph, THE VIRGINAL SPOUSE, of Most Holy Mary.(Lk 1:34-38)

And Mary said to the angel, "How shall this be, since I have no husband?"And the angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible."And Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.

Reflection: Matrimony, between baptized, is a sacrament, a symbol of love between Christ and the Church. It is a way towards Christian sanctity. Matrimony is lived with Christianity when the dialog, the mutual love, the procreation, and the education of the children corresponds fully to the project expressed by God in the revealed Word and in the teaching of the Church. May the Holy Family of Nazareth be for all families a model of union, domestic virtues, and sanctity.

Our Father, Hail Mary’s (10), and Glory Be.

Third Mystery
We contemplate Saint Joseph,THE EMIGRANT FULL OF TRUST, in their fleeingto Egypt. (Mt 2:13-15)

Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Rise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there till I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him."And he rose and took the child and his mother by night, and departed to Egypt, and remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet, "Out of Egypt have I called my son."

Reflection: Christian parents have to care more to defend their own children in the physical, moral, and spiritual life. There are many “Herod’s” in today’s world, which cause immense danger, especially for the little ones.

Our Father, Hail Mary’s (10), and Glory Be.

Fourth Mystery
We contemplate Saint Joseph, THE WISE HEAD of the Holy Family. And Jesus “and he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man”.

Jesus “coming to his own country he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, "Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter's son?”

Reflection: A family also obeys the wise, attentive, and loving presence of the father. The dialog between parents and children and praying together will help the family to realize the project of God.

Our Father, Hail Mary’s (10), and Glory Be.

Fifth Mystery
We contemplate Saint Joseph, THE FAITHFUL OBSERVER of religious feasts. (Lk 2: 41-43)

Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom;and when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it.

Reflection: Religion must also be lived “together” in the family. Parents should not say to their children: “Go to Mass… go to church… go to confession… say your prayers!” Instead parents should say: “Let’s go to Mass, to confession, etc…!” Family life is alife of communion, must be felt and lived in community, with a lot of strength.

Our Father, Hail Mary’s (10), and Glory Be.
