DEVOTION TO THE HOLY SACRAMENT OF THE ALTAR

 INTRODUCTION

To our beloved Jesus, it is very difficult to say no to us when something is asked of Him during Adoration. If there is no physical impediment, on that occasion, let’s kneel after having confessed and received Holy Communion, and so on.

Farther down we explain in detail, but if you are worried for a deceased family member, this is the moment to ask for this person. If we are sick, for ourselves, so he will free us from all sin and from Satan’s claws. In other words, for anything that we need, there is no better place in the whole Universe, that being in front of the Holy Sacrament. We say our petition and then, kneeling down (if you can) in profound silence and adoration.

Brothers, I am convinced that in that moment, Jesus walks between the pews of the Temple, caressing everyone who is there in profound prayer.

We invite you to keep on reading, print this page so you can take it to church, and you can pray some of these prayers in front of the Holy Sacrament.

Visit to the Holy Sacrament of the Altar, the place of Residence of God the Highest, and where there is no problem or difficulty that won’t find an answer in the Infinite and Divine Mercy of Jesus the Lord!

Eucharistic Adoration is a moment of intimacy, of trust, and of friendship with God. In those moments of prayer in front of the Holy Eucharist, in front of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, we remember that his presence is the fruit of the love he has for us. It is an opportune time to renew our purpose of being saints and to respond generously to God’s love. In the adoration of Christ Jesus we also can ask for forgiveness of our faults and sins, so recognizing, with humility, that only He has the power to forgive us, renovating our trust in his mercy.

We can pray for others, for our family, for friends, for the needy, for the suffering, for the sick, for the agonizing, for the poor… Also for the Church, the Pope, the bishops, the priests… For the physically impaired, those who need faith and feel abandoned by God, for the conversion of the unfaithful and the followers of false religions, for the repentance of the heretics… We can offer an act of reparation for our sins and the sins of others, especially for the offences that are uttered against the name of God, and the sacrileges that are realized against the Holy Sacrament; for the crimes against the unborn, for the sins against morality and chastity; for the faults against justice; for the scourge of organized crime… In other words, in each one of us lie different intentions and needs that we can present with faith and trust. Hopefully we can make a habit of visiting the Holy Sacrament, which will bear much fruit in our spiritual life!

VISIT TO THE HOLY SACRAMENT
In the name of the Father, the Son,…
Act of Contrition, My God, I am sorry…

BEGINNING PRAYER

Here I am in your Divine Presence, my Jesus, to visit you.
Lord, I have come because you have called me.
Your real presence in the Holy Eucharist is the echo of those words that you say to us in the Gospel: “Come to Me all that are burdened with your miseries and sins, and I will relieve you”. Here I come, so, like a sick person goes to the Doctor, so you will heal me; like a sinner to the Saint, so you will sanctify me; and like a poor and a beggar to the rich man, so you will fill me with all divines graces.

My Jesus, I believe that you are in the Holy Sacrament of the Altar, so real and true like you were in Bethlehem, like you were in the Cross, and how you are now in Heaven.
I trust in You, that you are powerful and good, to sanctify my soul and save me.

I love you with all my heart, because you are infinity Goodness, worthy of being loved by all creatures on Heaven and earth; and you have loved me to the point of spilling your blood and give your life on The Cross for me.

I come here looking for a refuge against the corruption of the world. In the world also is falsehood and lie; I come to you because you are the eternal Truth. The world is full of iniquity abysms; I come to you because you are the only Way to happiness. In the world everything is sensuality and sin; I come to you because you are Life and Holiness of the souls.

Give me light, Lord! That I am able to see you here present in the Sanctuary with eyes of faith; and that my heart drinks until it is satiated of the fountain of divine Love that springs from your Sacred Heart!

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy  Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.  I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.  Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.-
St. Alphonsus Liguori

Jesus, Joseph, and Mary, I give you my soul and my heart.
