CHAPLET IN HONOR OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
 

 
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Act of Contrition.O, my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you. I detest all my sins because of your just punishment, but most of all because they offend you, my God, who are all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin.

Prayer:
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

FIRST MYSTERY

Jesus was conceived from the Virgin Mary by virtue of the Holy Spirit.

MEDITATION: “And the angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35)

PETITION: Ask with persistence for the help of the divine Spirit and the intercession of Mary, to imitate the virtues of Jesus Christ, who is the model of virtues, so you will the likeness in the image of the Son of God.

SECOND MYSTERY

The Spirit of the Lord alighted over Jesus.

MEDITATION: “And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on him...” (Matthew 3:16)

PETITION:Sovereignly esteem the precious sanctifying grace that has been spilled in your heart by the Holy Spirit in Baptism. Keep what you have promised and exercise yourself in continuous acts of faith, hope, and charity. Live always as the children of God should live and the members of the true Church of God, so at the end you this life you will receive your inheritance of Heaven.

THIRD MYSTERY

Jesus was led to the desert by the Holy Spirit.

MEDITATION: “And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit 2 for forty days in the wilderness, tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing in those days; and when they were ended, he was hungry. (Luke 4:1-2)

PETITION:Be always grateful for the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, which you have received in Confirmation: for the Spirit of wisdom and intelligence, counsel and fortitude, science and piety, and fear of the Lord. Faithfully obey the divine Guide, so you will behave manfully in all the dangers of this life and in all temptations, as a perfect Christian should and a brave athlete of Jesus Christ.

FOURTH MYSTERY

The Holy Spirit in the Church.

MEDITATION:“And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. We hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God." (Acts 2:2,4,11)

PETITION:Give thanks to God because He has made you children of his Church, to which the Holy Spirit was sent to the world on Pentecost day, who always invigorates and governs. Listen and follow the Sovereign Pontiff that through the Holy Spirit teaches infallibly, and to the Church, which is the column and the holder of the truth. Keep its dogma, advocate its cause, and defend its rights.

FIFTH MYSTERY

The Holy Spirit is the soul of the just.

MEDITATION:“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own” (Corinthians I 6:19) “Do not quench the Spirit…” (Thessalonians I 5:19) “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption” (Ephesians 4:30)

PETITION:Hasten always to the Holy Spirit which is within you; watch carefully for the purity of your soul and your body. Faithfully obey the divine inspirations to do the works of the fruits of the Spirit: charity, spiritual joy, peace, patience, kindness, benignity, longsuffering, meekness, faith, modesty, continence, and chastity.
